The search box has several core features that work consistently across Microsoft 365 Apps.

  1. Location. You’ll find the search box at the top of the app, above the ribbon, although it may be minimized as a magnifying glass, depending on your settings. The Windows keyboard shortcut is Alt+Q.
  2. Words or phrases. You can type a single word or phrase into the search box and get a range of context-specific results. For example, in Outlook, the box will display emails before Word documents.
  3. Memory. The search box will learn your behaviors and more intelligently display information for you. Your most recent searches are saved, so you can quickly access them again.
  4. Advice. If you need to find how to do a specific task in an app, just type a word associated with the task in the box. You will find a help document or a video to help you.

  5. Internet search. If you want to do more research on a topic, type it into the search field and the basic information will appear in the app, along with Bing search results that will open in a browser when clicked.

Google, as we know it today, is certainly not equipped to give an opinion on such a highly subjective and imprecise matter.

When contacted, a Google spokesperson said PTI, “Search is not always perfect. Sometimes the way content is described on the Internet can give surprising results to specific queries.”

How did Google respond?

As people expressed outrage and leaders transcended party lines slamming Google for the blunder, he quickly removed Kannada “as the ugliest language in India” and apologized to people saying that the search result did not reflect his opinion.

According to the company, the system uses OCR to streamline the ingestion, organization and retrieval of operations and maintenance documents. It can even recognize handwriting to search by A&P technician signature or inspector approval, Blutail said. Recordings can be downloaded via a computer, tablet or smartphone, and searched by numbers, text or form.

To ensure the system would be up and running for customers at launch, Guerrieri said recordings are being done alongside technology development. “To date, we have executed over a million customer records through Mach machine learning code,” he said.

How to Add/Remove Search Box on Chrome Browser

If you are using the Google Chrome browser, you know that you can search just by typing your text in the URL bar. However, some people don’t like to do this, and for those people there are a number of options to add a search box to your browser. One of the best options is a Google Chrome extension called SearchBar.

There is an extension called SearchBar that you can add to Google Chrome through the Chrome Web Store at this link. Once you have installed the extension, you will find a Show/Hide Search Bar button on the toolbar. Tap it to open a separate search bar in the browser as shown below.

You can now search for pages with this separate search box instead of the URL bar. Enter a keyword in the text box, then press one of the search engine buttons, which will then submit your search to the selected engine.

SearchBar allows you to add many additional search engine options. Press the Options button (the gear icon in the search bar). Then click Custom Searches to open the page below. There are a few search engines that are unselected, so click the unselected boxes to add their buttons to the search bar.

If you need to add a search engine that is not listed, open it in your browser and right-click its search box. Then select the Add to search bar option from the context menu. This will open a window as shown in the snapshot below.

You can assign a keyboard shortcut for your new search by typing it in the Keyboard Shortcut text box. Then press the Add button in the search bar. You can now select the new search engine from the search bar.

By default, the search bar opens pages in the same tab. However, hold down the Ctrl key when you click a search engine button in the bar to open the page list in a new tab. You can also select an Open search results in a new tab by default option by clicking Basic Settings in the Options tab of the search bar.

You can now search for pages in Google Chrome with a separate search box, just like in Firefox. As SearchBar adds a new search toolbar to the browser, it effectively replicates the Google Toolbar in Chrome.

The team behind the Microsoft Bing search engine is always looking to improve the search experience for end users. In the latest of these moves, Bing Search is now working on ways to help you clarify your search query by asking follow-up questions (via the search engine roundtable.)

Seen in Alexander Bondarenko’s Tweet above, Bing is asking the user to clarify questions for some research. Questions appear directly below the search box in several situations. This includes searching for “blue screen”, “20th anniversary gifts” or “NSFL”.

We’re seeing the same results on our end, and they certainly seem to be helpful. In the case of “Blue Screen”, Bing asks you which version of Windows you are using, and in “20th Anniversary Gifts” Bing asks you who you are buying for, with prompts for Male or Female. Clicking on one of the answers to Bing’s question then returns results that are more relevant to that specific search.

This feature is just one of many recently added to Bing. In previous updates, Microsoft improved the election experience, added a smart shopping experience, and added a spotlight feature to help break down the news.

Do you know that Google search bar you see when you open a new tab in Google Chrome? Well, this is not a “real” search box. In fact, it just redirects all activity to your browser’s address bar and doesn’t return any search results in the new tab page. Frankly, it’s little more than an unnecessary decoration, at least by default.

Turns out there’s a hidden setting in Chrome’s flag menu that can turn the new tab screen’s search bar into a legitimate Google search box, with search results auto-filling as you go. as you type, and it’s pretty easy to activate. Here’s how (via gHacks):

  • In Google Chrome on computer, go to chrome: // flags /
  • To look for “Real search field in the New Tab page” in the search bar,
  • Click on the drop-down list and select “Enabled.”
  • Close the browser window for the changes to take effect.
  • The next time you open Chrome, the search bar on the New Tab page will work as a legitimate search bar.

Note that this will only work if Chrome’s search engine is set to Google. You can check it by going to chrome: // parameters /, Click on “Search engine” in the left menu, then use the drop-down list to set “Search engine used in the address bar” to Google.
